Roseburg is a neighborly community. Where ‘friends’ become family. The staff and residents at Callahan Village and Callahan Court enjoy every opportunity to celebrate this uniquely Roseburg quality. For that reason they eagerly hosted their second annual Easter Egg Hunt.
The hunt offered at variety of entertainment, mixing together a multitude of generations. As the children scavenged the lawns for decorative eggs, gratification flooded the hearts of our residents. Tammy Huntley, Executive Director at Callahan Village, believes “it is important for both the children and the residents to have intergenerational connections.” Crowds of new friendships were effortlessly shape that day. Kim Jordan, Executive Director at Callahan Court, added that “not only can older adults be enriched by their involvement in the event, but also [this event] provides learning experiences for younger generations.”
This occasion continues to be a huge success simply owing to the fact that our residents value fun and good fellowship…qualities that bind their community together.
Each day our primary goal is to provide you with the best in Assisted Living in the Roseburg and Douglas county area. To that end our entire team is continually focused on providing those who live here with the respect, dignity, and compassion they so richly deserve while creating a supportive health program that promotes a safe, healthy and happy lifestyle.
A key indicator of the success of our efforts is the annual State Health Survey performed by the Oregon Department of Human Services. We are very proud to announce that our survey, completed in February 2013, resulted in zero deficiencies!
This level of excellence is not easily achieved and is the direct result of our exceptional team fulfilling our commitment to you. Congratulations to Callahan Village...the premier Assisted Living and Retirement community in Roseburg.

Even in these hard times people are still stepping up to help those in need, and Friday the people at Callahan Village showed why.
The assisted living home held it's third annual spaghetti dinner and raffle, with all of the money raised going directly to the local Toys For Tots campaign.
Individuals and local businesses donated baskets full of gifts and goodies which were given away during a drawing after dinner.
Organizers are still amazed at how much people step up to help every year, and the residents love hosting it. "The residents get a chance to look at the baskets, buy raffle tickets, put there tickets in the boxes, so, they love it every year," said Heather Tatum.
This year the event brought in more than $1,100, which will be used to buy toys for children of all ages.
The Roseburg Fire Department is organizing the toy drive and you can still drop off new, unwrapped gifts at several locations.
Toys for Tots makes sure kids receive at least one gift who might not otherwise have something under the tree at Christmas.

Tammy Huntley, Executive Director at Callahan Village Assisted Living led her team in song and dance at lunch time for their residents. Tammy states “There were hands clapping and smiles throughout the dining room”. This was truly one of the highlights of the day!
When Kim Jordan, Executive Director, joined the staff at Callahan Court Memory Care May 2000, she referred to the staff of Callahan Village Assisted Living as "The Village People." For the past three years Kim has teasingly asked the Department Heads at Callahan Village Assisted Living to dress up for Halloween as “The Village People”, this year they enthusiastically obliged.
Kim states, “This year they came over to the Memory Care and paraded around the dining room during breakfast singing 'YMCA'. Residents, staff, and family members enjoyed the parade while many faces broke out in smiles. What a great way to start the day.”
Thank you Village People... and Happy Halloween to everyone!
